Sunday, March 2nd, 2014 was supposed to be a whole day at the beach in Galveston, TX. Breakfast at Miller’s Landing, lunch and dinner at a place of our choosing and then a walk on the beach before we head back home. Well for me and my fiancé (Tristan Below) we can plan all we want but with our crazy schedules some plans fall short; Sunday was one of those days. This time, however, was because Tristan’s truck was acting up.
It was around 2 o’ clock in the afternoon and we were getting ready to head home so he could fix his truck and Tristan said to me “I at least want you to be able to walk the beach like I promised, before we leave.” So we parked the truck on the Seawall and headed down to the beach by the rocks. The tide, according to Tristan was “the lowest I had ever seen it, to the point where you could walk down on the flat surface.” As we are walking we began to talk about our future together, how fast our relationship had been moving and the happiness we both have with one another. Tristan then begins to apologize for the day not going as planned, just being a true gentleman [as always]. And I began to tell him how there was no need for an apology things happen, we are just a spontaneous couple which works for us.
At this point, I am walking a foot in front of him just to his right and as I turn to face him he gets down on one knee. At first I thought it was a joke, we are a silly couple and always having fun, the last time he got down on one knee he ended up just tying his shoe. However, this time he pulled out a little black box and I immediately start crying. He says “spontaneous like this…I want to spend the rest of my life loving you. Will you marry me?”
[Tristan injured his knee playing basketball (I might be a little bias but he is a very good ball player if I say so myself).]
In my mind the moment I saw the box I was saying “YEEEESSSS!” but I guess with all the crying I couldn’t get it out quick enough and the next thing I remember him saying is “Babe, is that a yes? Because I really need to get off my knee.” I quickly said “OMG IM SORRY BABE, OF COURSE ITS A YES!” Lol.
It was like the perfect romantic comedy movie proposal of all times. A perfect sunny afternoon, tide just right, the perfect ring and a young man with an old knee, lol, absolutely perfect and I couldn’t ask for a better man. I am the luckiest Bride to Be!
