“The Man behind
the sweet-smelling cigar”
Rena and Daryl, both die hard Chicago Bears fans, met at a game on September 22, 2013. In the 2nd quarter, Rena noticed Daryl outside smoking a cigar and their eyes met immediately. She broke the ice by asking about the type of cigar he was smoking.
Their conversation carried on for a few hours and they even spoke more on the phone that night. Eventually, their phone conversations led to their first date.
One Thanksgiving, Daryl surprised Rena with her family in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Little did she know, he had asked her brother for his blessing. The following Sunday, in Houston, he proposed to her during dinner.
Two years from the time they met, Rena and Daryl married at The Church Without Walls in Houston, TX. Rena wore a long simple wedding gown from Impression Bridal. Instead of a unity candle ceremony, they participated in a sand-mixing ceremony; blending of two lives into one. The wedding cake was by Let There Be Cake and the Groom’s cake was from Delectable Treats by Chef Toni. The night ended with family and friends in a Michael Jackson Dance Routine.
