Nicole and Russell
Celebrating: Nicole Novitsky and Russell Schulte
Their first date was at The Salt Lick BBQ in Driftwood. So it only made sense this fun-loving couple would celebrate Texas Hill Country nuptials. The rehearsal dinner took place in a rustic Italian Oasis. Reminiscent of an Italian Villa, Trattoria Lisina is the closest you’ll come to Tuscany in Texas. The large crowd of out of town guests enjoyed wine in the tasting room before retiring to the dining room to splurge on veal and chicken marsala, prime rib, asparagus, gelato and tiramisu.
Nicole’s wedding gown was very special. Twenty years earlier her mother became ill. Before she died she wanted to be involved in Nicole’s wedding. The two decided to shop for the perfect gown. As Nicole’s career progressed and she moved from town to town, she carried the gown with her. After meeting Russell, she was finally getting to wear her mother’s gift. To bring it up to date, alterations expert Mr. Santos updated the sleeves, fitted the bodice and prepared the gown for 2011.
The sunset ceremony was held under the canopy of ancient pecan trees at the Salt Lick pavilion as a light breeze flowed across the lawn. Later guests from all over the country enjoyed all-you-can-eat famous Salt Lick barbeque and two-stepped the night away. The groom’s cake had everyone talking; it was a life-size replica of a barbeque grill.
Editor’s Note: Russell called me after the first date to let me know he had just returned from the perfect first date. Two years later, I was a proud bridesmaid in their wedding! Congratulations to the perfect couple. – LMV
