December 25th, 2010, Kourtney Thurmond agreed to marry Obi Ashibuogwu. After dating all through their undergraduate years at Stephen F. Austin State University, the Christmas day surprise led to planning a wedding. Unsure where to begin, they attended the Bridal Extravaganza Show in Houston, where they met the vendors and contacts needed for a dream ceremony. On April 1, 2012, guests of the bride and groom arrived at the Bell Tower on 34th in Houston, TX. Kourtney recalls visiting the venue for the first time, claiming it was “exactly what we didn’t even know we wanted until that moment. As soon as we drove up, I knew that is where I was going to get married.” Obi watched as his bride waltzed down the aisle as Sara Shute played her harp. Wearing a beaded, traditional princess ball gown from Impression Bridal, Kourtney dazzled her guests alongside the luscious purple and white blooms adorning the ceremonial site. A four-tier butter cream cake by Designer’s Cakes awaited them at the reception. DJ’s with Signature Eventx kept the dance floor alive until it was time for the bride and groom to make their exit beneath a shower of rose petals. The next morning, the couple enjoyed a week long honeymoon in the luxurious Sandals La Toc Resort in St. Lucia.
