Courtney Zubowski receives many calls and tips as she investigates and reports Houston’s news on KHOU Channel 11. But it was a phone call from long time friend Laura Sussman that really changed her life. Sussman introduced her to Dr. Eric Haas, a colorectal surgeon in the summer of 2011. The two quickly became inseparable.
Courtney and Eric soon discovered they shared loves of sushi and exercise. Their romance blossomed over many meals at some of Houston’s best sushi restaurants. but to get her to say yes, Eric needed some help. He got Courtney’s coworkers to convince her there was breaking news at a hospital parking lot. When she got there, Eric was ready with a ring. They were engaged in September 2012.
Her father, Paul, escorted the beautiful bride. Courtney looked stunning in her Lazaro gown as she walked down the aisle at The Corinthian in downtown Houston. The bridal party wore Amsale dresses in gentle shades of purple. Rabbi Strauss conducted a traditional Jewish wedding under a crystal Chuppah.
In a nod to The Corinthian’s architecture, an art deco theme was carried from the invitations to the towering wedding cake. The décor featured shades of lilac and crystals as the media centric crowd enjoyed a seated dinner from Jackson and Co.
Guests danced the night away to the sounds of the Scott Gertner band. As the celebration was winding down, the catering team served silver dollar pancakes; Petite sweets’ marshmallow favors guaranteed a sweet departure. Courtney’s mom, Randi Zubowski, planned most of the wedding details, with help from florist extraordinaire David Brown. Schwartz & Woodward provided day of coordination.
Among the news types joining in the celebration were bridesmaid Miya Shay of Channel 13 and house party member Katie McCall of Channel 13. The Channel 11 team included Lily Jang, Katherine Whaley, Len Cannon, Jeremy Desel, Rucks Russell and Jeremy Rogalski.
After the ceremony, the happy bride and groom honeymooned on st. Lucia in the Caribbean.
