The wedding took place at Crystal Springs in Magnolia, Texas. Courtney, an elementary art teacher and soccer coach at Northland Christian School gave her hand to Chris, a Professional Baseball Player in the Tampa Bay Rays Organization.
They met at Berry College in Georgia where they were involved in athletics. On their first date, Chris set up a moon-lit picnic in a picturesque spot in the hills of Georgia.
“We wanted a down-home, traditional southern wedding that radiated the heart of country,”says bride Courtney. She is a Texas girl and Chris is a Georgia boy, and their hearts will forever be tied to southern roots. The South was represented throughout the entire event. Guests were given jars of homemade strawberry jam with their table number on it. When they arrived at their seats they found pictures of Courtney and Chris at that particular age. For instance, table two has pictures of them at two years old.
Courtney’s grandma has been the owner of Bavarian Cakery for almost 30 years, so Courtney grew up in the cake business and has been designing her cake since she was just a little girl. Both cakes were huge and according to Courtney “absolutely perfect.” The dessert table also featured a chocolate fountain by Chocolate Encore and a “cookie wedding cake” from Michaels Cookie Jar.
The southern dinner included chicken fried steak, chicken fried chicken, cheesy taters, and home-style green beans. The groom’s favorite beer, Shiner was served as well as pecan pralines straight from Georgia! The evening culminated with line dancing and plenty of country two steppin’! As Chris and Courtney made their exit in a 1968 yellow Ford Bronco, guests holding sparklers lined the drive. They honeymooned in Mexico between Cancun and Playa Del Carmen at the El Dorado Royale.
Soak up all the details and enjoy your wedding day. Take everything in, because it goes by so fast!
