Only in The Movies
Jennifer Vanessa Larin, a videographer and editor, and Carlos Alfonso Aparicio, an electrical engineer met through friends while attending the University of Houston.
Carlos went out of his way to create an action-packed proposal. He took Vanessa to the movie theater where they had their first date, and purposely arrived a little late. About twenty minutes into the movie it began having “technical difficulties.” Soon, a video of Carlos professing his love to Vanessa appeared on the forty-five-foot screen. The video ended with Carlos on one knee proposing. Vanessa was shocked, and started crying and screaming “Yes!” Because they arrived late, the theater lights had been dimmed. As soon as Vanessa said “yes,” the lights brightened; all of her family and friends were there.
The wedding ceremony took place at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Sugar Land, Texas. The reception took place at The Bell Tower on 34th street. The bride appeared in an Alfred Angelo sapphire edition dress, white iridescent satin with metallic embroidery, crystal beading, sequins and rhinestones. Carlos wore a tailor-made suit by nick Lopez.
The newlyweds spent two weeks in Europe. They started their journey in Athens, flew to Rome, took the train to Florence and ended the romantic honeymoon in Paris.
