Andi, an Office Manager met Robert, a leather salesman, in church. They were friends for three years before they started dating. The night before she graduated from Texas A&M, he took her to the garden behind the George Bush Library. When she opened her graduation present, she discovered a box full of wedding magazines. Confused, she looked up to see Robert down on one knee holding a ring.
“I kept a small notebook in my purse from the day we started planning until the wedding day. I would make a to-do list every Monday of things I wanted done by the end of the week. It helped me stay organized and on track throughout the whole process,” says Andi. She also made an emergency box for the day of the wedding with medicine, safety pins, toothbrushes, sewing kit, extension cords, etc. She says it was used a lot on the day of.
The couple selected Crystal Springs in Magnolia, Texas for their wedding venue. “We wanted something that was rustic and we loved that the building and grounds were beautiful and didn’t need much decorating,” says Andi.
To honor her dad’s Czech heritage, the groom wore a cowboy hat and the bride donned a bonnet and apron while the family sang them a song in Czech about leaving home, starting out with nothing, and having to work hard. The couple honeymooned in Jamaica.
