What Do You Say, DJ?
What should I consider when I select my disc jockey?
First, remember that this is YOUR day! You want to find someone who will understand and follow your vision.
What do I need to know before I meet with my DJ?
You should have your date, location and budget.
What should I look for in a top quality DJ entertainer?
A qualified individual can emcee your event, have good references, and carry liability insurance. A professional DJ company issues a signed contract, offers pre-planning suggestions, and allows you to visit with your assigned DJ a week or two before the event.
Can my cousin just load his I-pod with our favorite songs?
An I-Pod might suffice if you are having a casual backyard BBQ, but at a formal event you need a professional who can get everyone’s attention on a microphone. Only a professional DJ knows how to program the hits and get the music flowing.
I’ve never booked a DJ before, how does the pricing work?
Like any profession, more experience commands a higher price. In Houston prices range from $650 to $850 on a Saturday night for a standard four hour package, and an extremely experienced DJ/emcee can charge $1000 and up.
What are the payment options and how do they work?
Most DJs will ask for a deposit to secure your date. At Sound Connections we ask for a retainer of $200 dollars to hold the date. Example: If your package total is $775, you pay a $200 deposit, and the remaining $575 is due at the conclusion of the event.
