Lindsay and her sister drove to Lake Charles to see a band, and as fate would have it, Seth was also at the show. Later, he direct messaged her via Facebook and asked her out. Their first date was a night full of fun and games at Dave & Buster’s. They instantly hit it off. “We had the best time playing air hockey, shooting zombies, and getting to know each other. It was like I had always known him, and we just instantly clicked.”
Although they had to go to Louisiana to meet, they soon discovered they had grown up in close proximity to each other. While she was growing up in Hardin, he was only eight miles away in Liberty. Now, five years of dating has brought them to new jobs, new apartments, and adopting their fur-baby Romy through BARC.
In January, they took a spontaneous to road trip to Austin for some fun. Along the way, Seth kept her favorite tunes on and slyly filmed snippets of Lindsay enjoying the music and the trip. Seth has an interest in photography so they stopped at McKinney Falls State Park to take some nature pictures.
The park was really busy that day. A construction crew was working at a nearby waterfall and there was a loud group of kids on a field trip. Luckily, they found a secluded spot to stop and take pictures. Seth mounted his camera on a sturdy rock so he could get a group shot. Little did Lindsay know he had set the camera to record. After a while, Seth called her over to the camera to check out a photo but instead of a pic the camera screen read, “Marry Me?” Just then, he got down on both knees and presented a beautiful, one-of-a-kind engagement ring made just for Lindsay.
“The way it happened was so perfect to me. Just us, our dog, a beautiful setting, not over-the-top, and he secretly got it on video,” she says. They celebrated in Austin where Lindsay excitedly said the word “fiancé” to anyone who would listen.
Lindsay attended the Bridal Extravaganza Show and was selected to be the next billboard bride. It was a thrill for Lindsay to be in front of the camera; she usually works behind the scenes on photo shoots through her job in retail.
The photo shoot took place at the beautiful Bowery House & Gardens. The three-story building is a unique indoor and outdoor venue. Owner, Allen Strickland, was able to purchase the land only when he promised to preserve the oak trees which are a significant part of the venue’s ambiance. The bottom level is the Courtyard, the gallery reception hall is an indoor space located on the second floor and the top floor features a rooftop, perfect for intimate ceremonies or cocktail hour.
Lorie Speich, creative director for Visit of the Venues, was the design mind behind our Billboard Bride shoot. “The Bowery House and Gardens provided the backdrop as well as the inspiration for the shoot. I created an inspiration board and reached out to the vendors who I knew could turn my vision into reality with their talents and services,” she says.
The creative team incorporated the character and natural elements of the venue to give the shoot an edgy yet romantic fall vibe. Holyoak Floral Designs highlighted one of their most popular features, the floral swing. They also created the gorgeous ceremony backdrop, decor and floral displays for the ballroom. LG Event Entertainment created the floor decal for the aisle and provided the fun, neon selfie backdrop. Instead of a cake, Cotton Ranch Culinary set up a wonderful dessert table and Paper Tie Affair provided the place cards and bar menu. Chair Covers and More provided the lovely linens and chargers, and A Finer Event provided the chairs and place settings.
Lindsay wore two beautiful gowns selected from the vast collection at Ventura’s Bridal Fashions. The first was a whimsical strapless gown and the second gown featured a bohemian flare. Mayra Malik of Simple Beauty Artistry completed the look with a sophisticated braided bun. For makeup, Mayra selected a soft, subtle look with warm colors.
When you see Lindsay’s smiling face on billboards, she’ll be holding a stunning bouquet, one of the latest designs from the creative crew at Blooms Design Studio.
This relatable bride is a proud, native Houstonian and represents today’s modern bride. She is on a budget, and works hard to reflect her personality through her wedding planning choices. Their venue is Avant Garden, a unique boho venue in Montrose. Her ring is from Eklektic Jewelry Studio and they plan to attend a class together to make each other’s wedding bands. Lindsay can’t wait for her family and friends to see her featured on billboards throughout Houston as she represents the Bridal Extravaganza.
